The Trustees have determined that applications for financial assistance by way of awards from the Trust, are subject to the following principles, which will be applied by the Trustees, in exercising their discretion of all applicants who establish eligibility.

In all cases:

1. The merits of the application both in terms of the applicants abilities, suitability and commitment, and in terms of the nature of the activity or financial commitment to be funded, and the purpose for which the award is requested.

2. The financial circumstances and need of the applicant, which will include the availability of funding from other sources.

3. The published guidelines for applicants.

4. The amount of income available to the Trustees at the time of consideration of the applications in order to fund awards considered at that time.

In addition:

Applicants under the age of 16

1. Save in exceptional circumstances no applications for financial assistance with ongoing education within the state or private education system will be considered.

2. Applications for financial assistance with lessons, or the purchase of equipment, to assist or further development of exceptional talent will be considered.

Applicants aged 16 - 18

1.Save in exceptional circumstances no applications for financial assistance with ongoing education within the state or private education system will be considered.

2. Applications for financial assistance with lessons, or the purchase of equipment, to assist in the further development of exceptional talent will be considered.

3. Applications from school leavers for financial assistance for the provision of specialist books, tools or equipment necessary for apprenticeship, or career related activities or courses, will be considered.

Applicants aged 18 - 25

1. Applications for financial assistance with university or college course fees, and / or subsistence will be considered.

2. Applications for financial assistance with lessons, or the purchase of equipment, to assist or further development of exceptional talent will be considered.

3. Applications from school leavers for financial assistance for the provision of specialist books, tools or equipment necessary for apprenticeship, or career related activities or courses, will be considered.
